When you come from Leukerbad, a certain operational blindness creeps in. One knows it, the 1400 soul village at the foot of the famous Gemmi. But then you suddenly stand there – for example in the morning, when the sunrise, while we prepare the rich breakfast buffet, bathes the impressive mountain scenery in soft light.  We are very happy to spoil our guests at such a striking and wonderful place, with such a view into the valley. The new day begins and offers an endless variety of possibilities in summer and winter.

Experience the mountains: hiking, climbing or just taking a walk

From spring to autumn you can enjoy the impressive nature on over 200 kilometres of well signposted hiking trails and perhaps even learn something new. For example, on the historic trail over the Gemmi Pass. It has been crossed for centuries and remains a popular link between Leukerbad and Kandersteg. An equally historic route lies between Leukerbad and Albinen, overcoming the heights with ladders. The ancient Valais can be hiked along the Roman path.

For outdoor enthusiasts, we recommend longer high-mountain hikes, for example the traditional connections from the Lötschental via the Restipass, from Crans-Montana via the Varneralpe or the Wildstrubeltour.

On the two thermal spring trails you can learn interesting facts about the hot springs, the chapel trail is something for lovers of religious buildings, the glacier trail in Lämmeren inspires geologists and botanists and wine lovers learn interesting facts about local plants on the Valais wine trail.

Mountainbikers Paradise

Surrounded by impressive mountain peaks, Leukerbad at 1411m is a true mountain bike El Dorado. Ideal for children and beginners who still want to learn mountain biking, perfect for advanced cyclists who want to refine their technique. Between 500 and 2600m, the region offers a wide range of trails.

In the Leukerbad region there is something for every type of bike.

We recommend the Torrentrail or the Bike-Tour Rinderhütte – Oberu – Niwenalp – Underi Fäslialpu – Jeizinen to those who would like to try their hand at mountain biking. The alpine tours are the right choice for technically experienced bikers. We will be happy to help you find a local guide.

Bathing

Leukerbad has always been known for its natural vital thermal water and has a 500-year-old bathing culture that has developed over the years from a spa stay to a mountain bathing experience in the thermal water with an all-round wellness programme in the mountains. The Romans already travelled to Leukerbad to bathe, relax and recover in this thermal water, unique in Europe. Every day, 3.9 million litres of warm, natural thermal water up to 51 degrees Celsius bubble into the pools of the thermal baths. Admission to the Leukerbad Therme is free for you as a guest of Hotel ALFA.

Sports arena

The sports arena offers a variety of sports all year round, both indoor and outdoor activities, such as ice skating, curling, tennis, squash, climbing walls, mini golf. As a guest at Hotel ALFA, admission is free.

Children’s ski paradise ERLI

In winter the SNOWPARK is available to you and your children free of charge as a guest of the Hotel ALFA – learn by playing and have a lot of fun!

Ringjet, the local bus

The Orstbus runs at regular intervals and takes you easily to all destinations in Leukerbad. As a guest of the Hotel ALFA, use of the bus is free of charge.

Leuk Golf Club

Inaugurated in 2002, the classic 18-hole “Links Golf Course” in Leuk offers its guests similar challenges to the famous Scottish golf courses: heavily undulating greens, well-placed bunkers and a hard floor. In addition, there is always a prevailing wind, which has a strong influence on the playing conditions due to the open location of the course. We pay the green fee for our guests.

Wir hatten uns einen spontanen Zwischenstopp von drei Nächten gegönnt. Die Restaurantküche ist hervorragend, genauso wie die Bedienung und der allgemeine Service. Zimmer sind tiptop, inkl. Kaffee und Tee.

Pros: Our room is #15. It is spacious with a pretty nice view (though on the first floor). Breakfast has a wide range of cheese you can try. Free and unlimited access to Leukerbad Therme which is a bonus.

Wir hatten im Alfa Hotel ein sehr schönes Wochenende verbracht.
Das morgen buffet ist klein aber fein, und legt mehr wert auf Qualität statt Quantität, und das ist perfekt so.
Das Zimmer hat ein bequemes Kingsize-Bett, ist sauber und hat ein sehr grosses Fenster aus den man die Bergen bestaunen kann.
